I am Skinny but Have Cellulite

Skinny Girls and Cellulite

I know it may be difficult to comprehend, but skinny girls do have cellulite!I have gotten quite a few questions from women, trying to understand out how is it possible that they have cellulite, even though they are skinny and have very little fat on the body. When the word cellulite is mentioned, a lot of women associate it weight gain or people who are overweight. Unfortunately, Cellulite affects all women, regardless if they are young or old, big or small, a size 0 or size 16.

So What is Cellulite and How is it Possible for Skinny Girls to Have it?

Cellulite is essentially the skin having a dimpled and lumpy appearance to it. “The lumpiness of cellulite is caused by fat deposits that push and distort the connective tissues beneath skin, leading to the characteristic changes in appearance of the skin.” (( “Cellulite”. Medicinenet.com Retrieved 2012-08-15)) These fat deposits found under the skin can be attributed to many different factors from weight gain, hormones, skin thickness, ethnicity and much more. This is why cellulite will often show up on thin or slender women. Once the fat cells begin to lump together, cellulite is going to appear.

So How Do I Get Rid of Cellulite?

First off, there is no magic formula or cure that is available to get rid of cellulite, but there are a ton of activities, lifestyle changes and products that all can have an effect on this awful skin condition.

Diet

Eating properly is one of the first ways of combatting cellulite. Even if you are skinny and have no issues with gaining weight, you should still stay away or cut down on unhealthy foods that are high in saturated fat, salty and high in calories. All of these foods do more than good to the body and they also contribute to the development of fat cells, which cause cellulite. Stick with a healthy diet and eat more fruit and vegetables.

Exercise

Exercise is very important as you will be able to burn the extra fat that you may have on the body, as well as tone up the regions where the cellulite is prominent. Something simple as walking 30 minutes a day is a good way to get in shape and also tone up the legs.

You can also go to the gym to tone up and build muscle in the areas where you might have cellulite.

Home Remedies

Another way to combat cellulite is by trying out some of the many home remedies that can be found out there. There is a school of thought that these natural treatments have great success, while others believe they are not really effective. At the end of the day, we have reports of people satisfied with the results, while others not so much. It doesn’t hurt to try, once you have realistic expectations.

Cellulite Products

The cellulite product industry is booming and that’s because women all around are trying to find ways to get rid of their cellulite. You can find everything from creams, soaps, clothing and nutrition pills. Do they work? The jury is still out. Before trying any of these products, it is a pretty good idea to do the necessary research to find out if it is worth your time or if it is just magic in a bottle.
